DCEU - MINI Wonder Woman

"It's about what you believe. And I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world."

Wonder Woman 2017 is the first female led superhero film, as well as the first DCEU film with mostly positive reception. I think we all were terrified for this movie, hoping that it would be good (or at least good enough) and at least give DC a fighting chance, and inspire even more female led action films.

I loved it. It's definitely not perfect, but it was still really good, and that's good enough for me. The story was interesting and engaging,  and the characters were all likable and well-developed. Despite being the moral center as well as the main character, Diana was NOT in ANY WAY a mary-sue OR a man-hating Feminazi (and she could have been written as either really easily, I'm glad they didn't ever go there), Diana is relatable to everyone, not just women, the message and theme were written well, the seriousness and drama were well placed and executed without going dark and gritty, the acting was amazing (and the child actress for Young Diana was ADORABLE), memorable dialogue, and the comedy worked.

What I didn't like about it was the whole romantic subplot with Steve R̶o̶g̶e̶r̶s̶ Trevor and the fact that even with a female lead they still couldn't help putting in a cliched, played out, and rushed romantic plot-line; the fact that once again we have an antagonist that is a generic strong and intimidating antagonist, even though we've had many action films that have found a way to make a weak but brainy and psychological villain work for the entire film (Kung Fu Panda 2, The Dark Knight); and that despite acting the role incredibly well, Gal Gadot still doesn't look muscular or toned enough to make us believe that she could be an Amazonian Warrior/Goddess.

Now get started on a She-Hulk movie, Marvel Studios! There are no excuses anymore!
